2/3 of Rainbows was written by Alex Lato about 6 years ago, and was in his phone archive. Alex trawled that archive for contenders for Alamein and Rainbows stood out. Ed Thorne was an early fan and developed a sound scape around Alex's original piano part. Alex then developed the song into its current form, writing the 'live hard and die young' section in 2014. Lyrically, the song is built around the despair Alex felt in the two years following the collapse of the LA record deal. Its a song which deals with hope and despair in equal measure.
